#115: Palm Sunday Peace

Yep, 143 years ago, April 9, 1865 on Palm Sunday, Robert E. Lee showed up at Appomattox Court House to surrender the Army of Northern Virginia to Ulysses S. Grant.
It was Good Friday, April 12, 1861 when the American Civil War started by the bombardment of Fort Sumter and Easter Sunday two days later when it formally surrendered.
112/409 battles I've studied occurred on Sundays...frequently led by Christian Generals of either the North or the South. 66% of the time the attacks failed.
Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes booth on Good Friday, April 14, 1865 and died on the 15th, the day your taxes are due each year.
About 300,000 Americans came to a saving knowledge of Christ as a result of the War, roughly half Yanks/half Rebs.
Coincidence in the providence of God is an interesting study.
Got others to cite?
