#19: Guy Flicks ARE Chic Flicks

OK, it's the day after Christmas and y'all might have some time to watch a movie or two. Well, I want to clue you in to a secret about some of the movies you might watch. 'Guy Flicks' are usually a lot of action, shooting, sword fighting, blood and guts...Right?!! 'Chick Flicks' are kissy-face, huggy-bear relational, guy gets girl kinda thing, according to sterotyping. Some of my favorite CFs are 'Steel Magnolias', 'Funny Girl', 'Funny Lady', 'Pride and Prejudice' with Greer Garson, 'Tea With Mussolini', & 'The English Patient' (found this one on Oprah's list). Now, let me clue you in to some supposed Guy Flicks:
The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn, Faramir, Sam Gamgee & others beat the bad guys and marry Arwen, Eowyn, & Rosie Cotton, respectively. (Even the last scene is Sam with his wife and kids!) Lethal Weapon 1 to 4: Martin Riggs blows up the bad guys, loses a wife, a mistress, marries Lorna the Cop, gets married and has a kid. Murtaugh blows up the bad guys, becomes a grandpa in #4 because his daughter married Butters and had a kid, and Trish sells romance novels! BIG Family Photo makes the last scene.
Die Hard 1 to 4: John Maclean REALLY blows up the bad guys, makes up with Holly Gennaro Maclean in 1-3, gets divorced by #4, but makes up with Lucy, his daughter by the end and SHE gets a crush on the geek who helps John save the U.S.! (He might even let her date the geek!)
Armageddon: Bruce Willis Blows Up the Meteor and lets his daughter (Lady Arwen, we know!) marry the Rowdy Oilrigger. Ending scenes: THE WEDDING!!
Independence Day: Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith Blow Up the Aliens, Jeff makes up with his ex-wife, and Will gets married. The President loses the First Lady in a tear-jerking hospital scene.
Transformers: The Geek not only blows up the REALLY BAD TRANSFORMER, he saves the world, gets a dandy Autobot/Camero AND the blue-eyed, Brunette grease monkey!!
Pirates of the Caribbean: Captain Jack and Will Turner blow up the bad/half dead guys, and Jack gets The Black Pearl (SHE is his!!) and Will gets lovely Elizabeth the Governor's daughter.
Troy: Paris (yep, that's Legolas/Will Turner!) gets Helen, kills Achilles (who has a big kissy face time with Briseis just before he dies).
Reign of Fire: Quinn (Christian Bale) blows up the dragon, saves the world, and the last scene he walks off holding hands with the girl helicopter pilot, Alex.
All I can say is, GOT BALONEY??!!
Think I'll go get a sandwich and read my favorite book where the story line is: Jesus saves the world, beats the bad guys, and marries His Bride, the Church!! OOORAH, OOORAH!!!
